Brendan P Lynch:
Brendan comes from a small rural village in north County Dublin. Growing up in the early 1980s, Brendan latched onto the vibrant music scene, which existed all around him in his native village and surrounding areas. He has learnt his fiddling craft from the older musicians of not only County Dublin but from all over Ireland. Brendan has traveled and performed around the world from America to the Philippines. He has two solo albums to his credit and when not busy fiddling around he pursues his other professions of an accomplished artist, author and BSc. in Town Planning. Brendan is director of the musical performances at the New Arlington.
Tom O’Connor:
Tom comes from the south of Dublin where he spent his early years touring with some of Ireland well-known dance bands. He now concentrates his musical skills on the singing of Irish folk songs with his unique style of accompanying Irish folk music on his guitar. Tom has one solo album to his credit.
Dave Mc Nevin:
Dave comes from south Dublin where he grew up listening to his father playing music on the accordion. Dave first took up the banjo at an early age and has excelled and become widely recognized as one of the leading players of the Irish Tenor banjo, not only in Ireland but also in the world. In 1991 Dave joined the famous Irish folk group Stockton’s Wing and toured all over the world for a decade. Dave is a regular performer at the New Arlington.
Martin Denning:
A countryman at heart, Martin has been playing and singing Irish folk music for many decades now. Martin cut his musical teeth at the home of Irish folk music, O`Donahue’s Pub, on Merrion Row, Dublin and quickly earned a reputation as one of the most talented folk singers and accompanists of Irish tunes in Ireland He has toured and performed all over the world and is a regular musician at the New Arlington.
Dan O’Sullivan:
Big Dan of Sullivan comes from the County Kildare and was taught tin whistle at an early age by a traveling whistle player. Dan plays the Uilleann pipes (Uilleann being the Gaelic word for elbow) and has established himself as a regular musician around the many musical pubs of Dublin. Dan also has a degree in Engineering and has recently worked in India. Dan is a regular performer at the New Arlington.
Éamonn De Barra:
Éamonn de Barra comes from a very musical home in Dublin, where his family has a long tradition of music playing. Éamonn plays the Irish flute, tin whistles, bodhran and piano. He won the Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award in 2000. Eamonn is a member of the amazing traditional group known as Slide and has toured Europe, the USA and Japan. He is a regular performer at the New Arlington.
Garry O’Meara:
Garry comes from the town land of Brownstown in North County Dublin and like Brendan, learnt music in the local O’Connor’s pub at the weekly Tuesday night session. Garry started playing the mandolin and banjo at the age of 9, winning Swords Young Musician of the Year when he was 15 which was judged by conductor Gearoid Grant. After leaving school, Garry completed a degree in Music and Irish at St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and at age 19 he joined the crossover folk band Reel with whom he recorded and toured extensively around Ireland. Whilst in college he became involved in the Dublin trad. scene and this led to various trips to Europe and the USA. Garry has been working as a
Professional musician for a number of years, touring with The Fureys, Stockton’s Wing and Gerry O’Connor. More recently, he performed on banjo in the musical Ha'penny Bridge. He spent most of 2005 touring in France with the successful dance show Celtic Legends 2, playing banjo, mandolin and singing. Garry is a regular performer at the New Arlington.
Tomás Ó Briain:
Tomás is one of the most exciting and fluent accordion players you will hear. Tomás is respected the length and breath of the country as an inspiring and dedicated traditional musician, having learned his music at an early age through the influences of his parents from Baile an Sceilg in Kerry and Gaoth Dobhair in Donegal. Tomás has developed his music by
embracing wide-ranging world music styles and working with the talents of musicians like Georgi Petrov (gadulka), Paul Kelly (fiddle/mandolin) and Sean Whelan (guitar). He has toured Europe and Asia extensively as a musician with various bands and artists, as well as with the legendary Riverdance Show. Tomás is a regular musician at the New Arlington.
Alan Doherty:
Alan comes from the south of Dublin and has established himself as one of the best all-round folk musicians in the world. Alan has been in huge demand since his lead role on The Lord of the Rings soundtrack. He has spent much of his career traveling. Highlights include support acts for Joe Cocker, Blondie and, oddly enough, Metallica. Alan is the lead musician with the folk group Grada. Grada tour the world and have many exceptional albums to their name. Alan is a regular musician at the New Arlington.
